Finding your place in the job market can be challenging at times but there are some jobs out there that value work based learning over traditional education. Work learning is a relatively old approach to the job market that is becoming ever more popular and desirable in many applications. There are tons of benefits to finding a job that values work based learning, the first being that you do not need any formal education.
For many going to college is a privilege not a right as it should be and because of that they can not afford to get a college education, for those it is important to find a job that teaches you the skills you need to succeed as you work. Finding a job that values this type of knowledge is not only a benefit for that job but also for future job opportunities. Many employers want to find workers that have previous experience but how can you have experience without first having a job? Employers that teach employees as they work is a great way to hone your skills and create an opportunity for future advancement.
One of the first type of learning is actual job experience, this means working the job and learning how to work based upon what you have done. This can be machine operating skills, how to use computer programs, how to file documents, and more. This type of learning is pretty much built in to just about every job on the market but is stressed more in some jobs. The second type of learning is classes and workshops that are offered through your employer. This could be a tuition reimbursement program, workshops that are offered on weekends or after the work day has concluded, and educational pamphlets and brochures to help workers further their own knowledge.
The third type of learning is seminars and training sessions that are offered through your job. This could be in the form of meetings where employees are taught to do something new, seminars that help you to reinforce what you already know, and counseling that helps teach you how to apply what you have learned or already know. Any of these type of learning opportunities are wonderful and should be taken full advantage of to make sure that you have opportunities to advance and even potentially find higher paying jobs. With any work based learning opportunities it is in the hands of the student not the employer to decide if education is right for them. There will not always be employers that are willing to help educate their employees and when you find one, you should take all the time you need to help make yourself and more educated person.
